Commonwealth Champion Tobi Amusan clocked a Season Best time of 12.73s to finish 2nd in the 100m Hurdles as she got her Diamond League campaign underway in Doha, Qatar on Friday.
Up against a strong field which featured 2015 World Champion Danielle Williams and American stars Sharika Nelvis and Brianna McNeal, Amusan was unfazed, reeling out on the inside lane and finish 2nd behind Williams who took the win with a time of 12.66s.
Back in April, the Nigerian hurdling sensation got her international season to a decent start, competing in the 100m Hurdles at the Drake Relays in Iowa.
She had to overcome a slow start, bursting into top speed in the last 50m as she settled for a 4th place finish with a time of 12.96s in a race which had World Record holder Keni Harrison take the win with a 12.65s clocking.
Friday’s race was undoubtedly a decent opener for Amusan and the Nigerian hurdler will hope she can improve on that feat in subsequent Diamond League events coming up later in the year.
