Blessing Okagbare dug deep to produce her most outstanding performance of the season yet as she claimed victory in the women’s 100m of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League in Rabat, Morocco on Sunday night.

The Nigerian sprint sensation had to snatch the win on the line ahead Ivorian rival Marie Jose Ta Lou to seal the 100m win with a Season Best 11.05s (-0.6).

Ta Lou and Canada’s Crystal Emmanuel came out of the blocks rather more brilliantly but Okagbare’s astonishing surge mid-race not only ensured she closed up on the Ivorian star but also made her overtake her for the win in the last few metres.

Meanwhile, Ta Lou clocked 11.09s to finish second while Emmanuel settled for third place with a time of 11.30s.

It was Okagbare’s third Diamond League outing this season – her second in the 100m – and at the North African city, she notably shaved off two-hundreth of a second from the previous Season Best she clocked at the Shanghai DL (11.07s) in May.
