Mike Brown names final 12-man squad for 2021 AfroBasket Qualifiers
Nigeria’s D’Tigers coach Mike Brown has announced his final 12-man squad list for their 2021 AfroBasket qualifiers campaign, which is scheduled to tip off on Thursday, November 26 in Kigali, Rwanda.
Having initially named a provisional 20-man list last week, the 50-year-old American gaffer has now trimmed his squad to 12 players with regulars like captain Ike Diogu, Ben Uzor and Ike Iroegbu yet keeping their place in the team.
The Full List

11 – Obi Emegano
3 – Caleb Agada
2 – Keith Omoerah
12 – Ibe Agu

D’Tigers to compete in Group D
Brown’s men will square up to hosts Rwanda – who have already automatically qualified, South Sudan and Mali in Group D of the qualifying series. After their arrival on Monday, the players commenced training at the Kigali Arena on Tuesday evening.
Their first group encounter will be against South Sudan on Thursday.
Fixtures, Date & Time
Nigeria vs. South Sudan | Thurs., Nov. 26 | 10am
Rwanda vs. Nigeria | Sat., Nov. 28 | 7pm
Nigeria vs. Mali | Sun. Nov. 29 | 4pm
Only thetop three teams in each group are normally supposed to earn qualification. But Rwanda have already booked their place in the 2021 AfroBasket Championship, so having them finish fourth in Group D will mean all four teams in the group will seal a place at the continental showpiece.
However, D’Tigers will need to avoid a bottom finish to qualify in the case Rwanda find themselves in the top three as that extra berth will be given to the best fourth-placed team from any of the five groups.
Where to watch
The game will be live on the Startimes sports channels in Nigeria.
BeIN and Canal Plus will also air the games for viewers in the other parts of Africa.
