Nigerian table tennis team at the ongoing Liebherr 2018 World Team Championships suffered another defeat to Slovakia in the quarter-final stage of the competition on Friday.

Tipped to give a tough challenge to their group stage arch rivals ahead the match, the Nigerian team failed to get one past their Slovakian counterparts as they suffered a 0-3 loss.

Aruna Quadri got the match to a rather sloppy start for the Nigerians as he lost 1-3 [7-11, 11-5, 8-11, 4-11] to Lubomir Pistej in Game 1.

Bode Abiodun churned a decent showing in Game 2 but his performance was not good enough to upstage Samuel Novota as he was piped 2-3 [11-5, 12-14, 11-8, 9-11, 7-11] to the Slovakian.

Olajide Omotayo could not salvage the situation for Nigeria in Game 3 and a 1-3 [12-10, 7-11, 5-11, 7-11] loss to Yang Wang was the outcome.

The team thus lost 0-3 to the Slovakian ping pong stars and saw an end to their chase for promotion to the Championship division.

They won four matches and lost two in all at the tourney.
