ITTF World Ranking: Quadri moves up to 22nd; Toriola, Omotayo, Abiodun record massive progress

Nigerian table tennis stars recorded massive progress in the latest release of the ITTF World Ranking following their decent showing at the just concluded Liebherr 2018 World team Championships.

The Nigerian quartet composed of veteran Segun Toriola, Aruna Quadri, Olajide Omotayo and Bode Abiodun played their way to quarter-finals of the men’s second division at the championships before facing elimination in the Slovakia clash.

Having recorded four wins and two defeats in the competition, the Nigerian ping pong stars were all considered for improvement in the May edition of the ITTF World Ranking.

Quadri moves up four places to 22nd in the World, just one move shy of equalling his lifetime best ranking.

Toriola eased up the ranking from 166 to 156 while Abiodun moved up 31 places to 265th position having garnered 1415 points.

Youngster Omotayo was the Nigeria’s biggest mover in the ranking as he rose up 38 places to 177.

The Nigerian team is now ranked 32nd in the world in the Men’s Team Ranking with 198 points.

The next release of the ranking is scheduled for June 4.
