Glory Nathaniel wins Gold for Nigeria in the 400m Hurdles at African Championships
Glory Nathaniel has won Gold medal for Nigeria in the women’s 400m Hurdles at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships in Asaba on Sunday.
Racing from lane 3, the Commonwealth Silver medalist outclassed her rivals in smart fashion to finish first with a time of 55.47s in the final.
In the heats on Saturday, Nathaniel clocked 56.41s to conveniently claim the win, treating the home crowd to ectasy as she blazed through the home straight.
There was none stopping the 2017 World Championships semi-finalist in the final on Sunday afternoon as she peerlessly stopped the clock in 55.47s to bag Nigeria’s 7th Gold medal at the African Championships.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other representatives in the final, Rita Ossai and Abasiono Akpan did not finish in medal positions.
Earlier in the year, Nathaniel finished 6th in the 400m Hurdles final at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast having clocked 56.39s. Notably, she clocked her lifetime best of 55.10s in the semi-finals at the Games.
