Nigeria’s Ese Brume leaped a season’s best (SB) 6.82m to emerge winner in the women’s Long Jump at the Jamaica International Invitational.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games champion eased to victory at the event as she was only a centimetre shy of equalling her lifetime best of 6.83m at the meet on Sunday.
Brume’s feat is remarkably her first outing in the season and the 6.82m mark places her in fourth in the World this year.
Sha’keelah Saunders from USA finished second with a record of 6.65m while Jamaica’s Tissanna Hickling settled for third place with mark of 6.60m.
Having failed to make a medal position at Rio 2016 Olympics and the 2017 London World Championships, Brume will hopefully be motivated by her impressive season start to reach the heights at subsequent big meets.
