C-USA Championship: Egbeniyi claims 800m title, Odugbesan emerges Shot Put champion on Day 2

Nigerian Middle Tennessee athletes delivered stellar performances on Day 2 of the C-USA Championship meet as the competition came to a close on Sunday.

Mid-Distance runner Abike Egbeniyi bagged the women’s 800m title before capping up her amazing show at the meet with another Gold medal alongside teammates in the 4x400m relay.

Egbeniyi clocked 2:10.94 in the 800m to clinch Gold ahead UTEP’s duo of Lilian Koech and Carolyne Chepkosgei, who settled for 2nd and 3rd spot respectively.

Nigerian Junior Shot Put record holder Isaac Odugbesan didn’t disappoint as he claimed the Shot Put title with a throw of 18.38m.

In the women’s 60m dash final, Cecilia Francis clocked 7.48s to finish 2nd behind Florida Atlantic’s Natalliah Whyte who emerged champion.

Fabian Edoki, who notably set a new indoor meet record in the Long Jump as he emerged champion on Day 1, finished 4th in the men’s Triple Jump with a heave of 15.30m, just 9 centimetres shy of third place UTSA thrower Andre Douglas.
