Arowolo, six other Nigerian athletes to storm Yaounde for CAA Grand Prix
Athletes across Africa and the world at large will this weekend storm the city of Yaounde where the 4th edition of the CAA Grand Prix is to take center stage at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Saturday, October 17.
The meet, which will see 23 stars from 11 countries take on Cameroon’s top athletes, will suffice for Africa’s leg of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver.
Emmanuel Arowolo, the 200m champion of the last edition, will lead Nigeria’s charge with seven athletes, in all, registered to represent the country at the Grand Prix.
National 400m champion Emmanuel Ojeli is also slated to compete at the meet and will be hoping to build on his impressive season opener at the Continental Tour Gold in Nairobi, Kenya two weeks ago where he came 2nd in the quarter-mile event.
The presence of Zambia’s Suwilanji Mpondela, Congolese Natacha Ngoye will provide good competition for Nigeria’s Anita Taviore, Balikis Yakubu and Idowu Temitope Oluwabukola in the women’s short sprint events.
Celebrated couple Emmanuel Gyang and Deborah Pam are also listed for the long distance events with the former itching to square up to Kenyan stars Isgah Cheruto and Matthew Kipchirchir Koech.
